After some glorious weather at the beginning of October, we have some wet and wild weather on the way. You should have already received an email letting you know that the Club will close due to storm CiarĂ¡n arriving this evening. The Club will close at 18:00 today and we hope to reopen at 12:00 tomorrow afternoon, Thursday the 2nd. You will receive an email confirming the reopening time as soon as we can.

The Social Committee provided us with an excellent quiz at the Laying Up Supper last Saturday night and one of the answers was, batten down the hatches which looks as if it will be so appropriate for this Thursday, with the wind forecast increasing to a likely storm force 10 for a time, with gusts up to 70kts. Thank you to Susie and the Social Committee for organising the splendid Laying Up Supper and for decorating the Club for Halloween.

The weather for the postponed rally to Granville, the first weekend of October, proved ideal, with an excellent BBQ organised by Debs and her rally committee on the Saturday evening. Rallye Hubert was the following weekend, with a dead down wind leg to Granville. The wind duly obliged for the return on the Sunday, by veering round towards the East. Thank you Nick, alias M Hubert and well done to the three boats that found him, following the clues in the scavenger hunt. Click here to read the race report.

The Westward room has been used to great effect for the screening of the Rugby World Cup matches and also for the second of an evening of colour and style, which was again a sell out success. It has also been used for the various courses we run, such as the VHF Radio Course and many private functions.

The Golden members evening was a great success and a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate their long years of membership. There was in excess of 3,000 membership years present that evening. Some members hadnt seen each other for some time and enabled them to reminisce over past times. You can enjoy the photos on our Photo Galleries web page.

Thank you to everyone who has made these events such a success, a great team effort.
