Never cast a clout till May is out! But, warmer weather is forecast and will hopefully be warmer for the events taking place over the first May Bank holiday, listed below. It was so cold for our rally over Easter, but those that did make it had a great time with good food, good company and an enjoyable day in Herm.

Combined Channel Island Yacht Clubs Triangle 2024
This is an event that was proposed by Guernsey Yacht Club and has been taken up between the four Channel Islands yacht clubs. It is being run over the last Bank Holiday of May and consists of four races, three to count making up the triangle. The notice of race is on our yacht racing web page. Leg 2 is part of our Offshore Series, the NoR is on our website and you can enter here.

Pleasure Craft Report Changes (for reporting passages to the UK)
The UK Home Office have updated the Pleasure Craft Report process - the online way to report a passage arriving to the UK. It relates to the skippers' responsibilities to ensure the passport information for his/her crew are valid and that they have the necessary permissions to arrive in the UK. From 18 April 2024, they introduced automated immigration checks known as permission to travel checks to this service. They will return a UPT response message showing you the outcome of the check, when you report an arrival to the UK from outside the Common Travel Area (CTA). The CTA includes travel between the UK, Ireland and Crown Dependencies.

They will use the details of the people you add, to confirm they have valid permission to travel, or if you must verify their documents. For British and Irish nationals a valid passport is their permission. You must check if all people onboard have a valid passport or travel document that is acceptable in the UK, or a valid visa or exemption document if they are from a country where a visa is always required. The link for reporting is Sailing pleasure craft to and from the UK - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Marine Auction
There is always a huge amount of effort that goes in to running this event coordinated by Jason. A big thank you to all involved and especially Sam, David, Kay, Chris, Kevin, Caroline, Liam, Ian, Bob, Jane, Chris, Rhys and Mark.

It is a great opportunity for members to sell and or buy items, but also raises a significant amount for the chosen charities. The amount raised was: £1,440.40.
